Short Update
During a recent primary, I volunteered as an election poll greeter. A voter shared a disturbing story with me. The voter, who lives outside of Minneapolis, has been hosting their daughter-in-law for the past six weeks. The daughter-in-law is a U.S. citizen who normally resides in Minneapolis, but her skin color is brown. Due to the aggressive tactics of ICE agents in Minneapolis, she had been effectively trapped in the house, unable to go out shopping or to school without the risk of being detained. As a result, she has been staying with family outside of the state for the last six weeks to avoid potential detention.
This story underscores the ongoing issues with ICE's enforcement practices and serves as a reminder that many people are unaware of the challenges faced by U.S. citizens in Minnesota. These issues can begin to affect families in states outside the impacted area. The voter mentioned that such experiences are influencing people's votes, potentially shifting support away from ICE, and creating fear that ICE will be used to intimidate voters during the midterm elections. Additionally, the city was described as being under siege by ICE due to their tactics and lack of accountability.

Best to them. Scary times. Sometimes we forget how big the US is. And capitalism putting most people through a crunch rn so ppl focusing on paycheck to paycheck. We will endure, survive, and be beyond this one day. No doubt. ๐
